Biography

February 2008 saw the release of the bands debut album “Through The Gates of Hell” with reviews from national magazines Rock Sound, Kerrang, Powerplay and Zero Tolerance. Planet Thrash named the album ‘Featured Album of the Month.’ Live TV performances on Red TV and Cue Tracks soon followed in support of the release, and in 2008 they featured on Get Ready to Rock’s ‘Rising stars iTunes podcast’ who claimed Primitai were ‘definitely one to watch.’
“…Battle hymn themes and ‘80’s fun. Kickarse!” ZERO TOLERANCE
“Ball breaking riffs, shredding solo’s, no prisoners taken and metal up your arse” KERRANG
Based in the South East, the band’s line-up features Guy Miller on vocals, Nick Saxby and Srdjan Bilic on lead guitars, Jamie Lordcastle on bass and Chris Chilcott on drums.
In 2009 the band entered the UK’s largest BOTB competition, Surface Unsigned, with 20,000 other hopeful bands. The band won every round from April through to September, ultimately being crowned 2009 champions the The O2 final.
“There are few bands you can go and see that put on a show, unless you’ve shelled out £80 quid to see some band at Wembley, but with Primitai you get this huge sound and the art of showmanship rolled into one.” SURFACE UNSIGNED LIVE REVIEW (September Final)
Since winning Surface, the band has invested their winnings into a new album, ‘The Line Of Fire’ which was released in October. The band completed their first UK tour in October and November 2010 supporting White Wizzard.
In 2011 to date, Primitai have supported Firewind, Jett Black and Heavens Basement and appeared at the High Voltage festival. Future festival appearences include Bloodstock Open Air and Hard Rock Hell with further tour dates planned.
FIRST REVIEWS OF ‘THE LINE OF FIRE’
‘Straight out of the NWOBHM text books. Surprise CD of the week is the best possible way. Twin guitar mannered mania. One to watch in 2011’ MALCOLM DOME, CLASSIC ROCK
‘The UK’s finest Unsigned Band show their grit. Eight tracks of adulterated metallic jubilation’ SAM LAW, KERRANG
‘Primitai have come out with all rock guns blazing, with classic metal riffs, thundering drums, mosh pit rhythms and testosterone filled vocals’ CLASSIC ROCK SOCIETY
‘There’s a real buzz about British thrash metal right now and Primitai have the potential to be right of there with the best’ MUSIC WEEK
SOME LIVE REVIEW’s
‘Primitai have the right ingredients for a band starting out: the confidence, the look, the banter and modesty, but more importantly, being able to play their instruments bloody well. Great showmanship and wailing duel-guitars certainly warm the crowd up for tonight’s main attraction. Primitai – bringing modern to the old skool’ DAVE, TERRORIZER
‘A healthy turn out sees a rammed Garage playing host to three diverse metal acts blowing away any New Years hangovers that might still remain. In my book Primitai have been wrongly dubbed by many as simply being a thrash band. Whereas what they actually play is the true meaning of the term “heavy metal”, taking their cues straight from the textbooks of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, and the simple fact is people would be going mad over this band if they weren’t British. World domination will be theirs once the current metal gods retire’ UBEROCK.co.uk
With a sound reflective of Manowar and an image to match, there was a vast improvement on the previous band. Primitai, a five piece, took to the stage inspired by a charismatic front man reminiscent of Iced Earth’s Matt Barlow in his heyday. Working the crowd with all the charisma and stage presence of a seasoned pro, it was not long before he had us whipping out the air guitars and playing along mid song. Notably, in an instant of request, the crowd ventured closer to the stage, enjoying the unexpected switch in genre to straight up heavy metal. There is still an aspect of fun to Primitai, and while there is a present longing for thrash to return, they have an anthemic vibe which is compelling and clearly working in their favour. With testosterone
blazing, Primitai have the potential to be right up there with the best. ROCKKENT.com
It was Primitai on the Metal stage we were however heading to see and they did not disappoint. A pinch of Iron Maiden, some NWOBHM and some thrash chug are blended together to form a satisfying dose of metal.Extra points must also be awarded for forming a Scorpions style human pyramid during Degeneration.
