Live Review by ForeverBlueSkies

Musically very good, old skool metal with flying-V style guitars playing in the upright “my guitar is my penis” style. Seriously though, Primitai were good!

Live Review by Tamlyn Head

Primitai rocked the night away giving the crowd a taste of pure rock ‘n roll. This 5-piece band gave a Guns ‘n Roses worthy performance. Halfway through their set the singer could no longer handle the constraints of the small stage and lept up the joining stairs and sang and played air guitar from up there. This improvisation won the crowd over, if the band itself hadn’t already done that.

Spitting fire, denim and leather at the fans Primitai remind us of the finer points of stadium rock. Subscribing to their brand of metal you’ll be seduced by their long hair and flying v’s, but this is more than just an act metal, as I’m constantly reminded, is not just a music genre it’s a way of life. Howling guitar riffs that set the standard and metal anthems that would make the devil blush. Primitai are a strong band that carry a whole weight on stage, it was like being at Download.

Live Review at Surface Unsigned Semi Final

Are you ready to be sunk, by the awesome pink torpedo of Primitai? Primitai pay a large homage to the 80s stadium metal sound, with their long hair, cut-off t-shirts and primitive metal vocals. The guitar sound cannot be rivalled and an amateur (at least at guitars) such as myself could never hope to capture the essence of their complex, guitar sections. Their sound is decadent, it’s a reminder of those times where music is more important than the air you breathe, but not the beer you drink. A more lively crowd I have n’er seen the like of, or a loyal fan-base, each song seemed to draw an appreciative gasp/whistle/noise as their hedonistic attitude spill out from the stage.

Live Review at Surface Unsigned Regional Showcase

Primitai benefited spectacularly from the light show, the look and the sound combined to form this kind of festival scene in front of our eyes. The red lasers cut through the smoke and bathed them in this demonic glow. An atmosphere enhanced by the confetti cannons that signalled the end of the set. A 5-piece classic metal style sound that relied on crazy riffs and heavy rhythms. The guitar playing was second to none and they created this red harmony that was defining of the set. They put on a show, and when the red mist descended all eyes were on them.

Live Review at Surface Unsigned National Showcase

The whole thing reeks of ego and overindulgence. But what else do you expect, what else do you want from Metal? Rockers Primitai use their vocals to have a distinct advantage of drawing in even the most timid of listeners; and being able to appease the more Metal orientated fascists who sit on the sidelines and mock any music that happened after the late 80’s. But that’s not the point! There are few bands you can go and see that put on a show, unless you’ve shelled out £80 quid to see some band at Wembley, but with Primitai you get this huge sound and the art of showmanship rolled into one. They say showmanship is a dying art, that may be so, but Primitai pump it full of adrenaline and keep it running for another few hours. At least!
